Paul George 'totally fine' being Clippers' No. 2 behind Kawhi Leonard

LOS ANGELES -- Paul George set aside any ego and made it clear that Kawhi Leonard is the LA Clippers' No. 1 option and that he is the second star in the All-Star duo's pecking order. As they enter their fourth season together with championship expectations, George was asked if there are any past championship wing tandems that he and Leonard can use as a potential blueprint."Yeah, look at the [ Miami Heat] wing-wing DWade [Dwyane Wade] and LeBron [James]," George said Sunday following the Clippers' 119-117 preseason loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves at Crypto.com Arena. "I think it just comes down to -- listen, Kawhi is the No. 1. And I am totally fine with that. I think I try to complement him with being able to take the load off of him."Everybody says, 'Kawhi [and] you are 1 and 1, [or] 1A, 1B.' I'll publicly say, I'm the 2. Kawhi's the 1, I'm the 2. So that part we nipped in the bud. Like there's no ego when it...

Falcons lineman 'unnecessarily' threw Tom Brady to ground, ref says

TAMPA, Fla. -- Referee Jerome Boger said Atlanta Falcons defensive lineman Grady Jarrett"unnecessarily" threw Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Bradyto the ground as part of his explanation for the roughing the passer call on a key third down late in the Bucs' win Sunday. The Falcons were down by six with 3 minutes, 3 seconds to play when they appeared to stop the Buccaneers at midfield on Jarrett's third-down sack of Brady, but Boger threw a flag, allowing the drive to continue and Tampa Bay to run out the clock in its 21-15 win.Jarrett had wrapped Brady up and then rolled to the ground, bringing the quarterback along with him."What I had was the defender grabbed the quarterback while he was still in the pocket and unnecessarily throwing him to the ground," Boger said in a postgame pool report. "That is what I was making my decision based on."Boger said, "No, not necessarily," when asked whether he was instructed to watch for...

The stumble was considered a display of gross motor instability, which is one of the protocol's "no-go" symptoms that requires a player be removed from a game without the possibility to return. He was immediately taken to the locker room for a concussion evaluation but informed both the team's...

McKissic is their third-down back.Washington likes Robinson as a primary between-the-tackles runner and could pair him in packages with either Gibson or McKissic, both of whom are pass-catching threats."You've got a good group...

NEW YORK -- The dreams of Mets fans were supposed to come true on Friday night. Jaw-dropping

Paul Westphal couldn't contain his excitement as he headed back into the Kings' locker room after the game. "They should've gone up by 40," the veteran coach exclaimed. The sense of joy in his voice was palpable.Just down the hall, the misery coming from the Bulls locker room was just as present. Joakim Noah sat in front of his locker and leaned back in his chair with his eyes closed. He couldn't believe that his team had just blown a 35-point lead.In truth, nobody in the United Center could. Derrick Rose when asked if something like this has ever happened in his career: "Never. But I guess there's a first time for everything. Just nonchalant attitude, I guess. But we'll be fine." Tyreke Evans on the game as a whole: "Wow, that's all I can say. Wow. That was crazy. I've never been a part of a team that came back like that." Friday wore on, and that edge never left."I was mentally focused on every play, every pitch," Segura said. "I came prepared today to play a game, and to be able to be here -- I just thank God that everything was on my side."With the Phillies down a run, the bases loaded, one out in the top of the ninth and the St. Louis Cardinals scrambling to replace their wounded closer, Segura snuck a grounder past a slightly drawn-in infield, plating two runs and propelling the Phillies to an improbable 6-3 win in the opening game of their best-of-three wild-card series, putting them on the cusp of advancing into the National League Division Series.The...
